Streaming and my Facebook Journey to Monetize
I started streaming for fun and to share my love of gaming. I enjoyed creating a community of people who get it. I didn’t have a plan. Not even a pla_ (Friends reference). I had not schedule and I didn’t know if anyone would even show up.
And I certainly never thought of monetizing my community with Facebook. I mean, is anyone even making any money from this weird little stars program?
Well, apparently they are. And that little community of Facebook creators embraced my cozy loving life. More than 500 of them in fact. And now, Facebook is just as much a part of my gaming community as Twitch is!
On Facebook, you can monetize your content on a page or a profile. You have to have 500 followers first and then you have to keep them for a minimum of a month. To get monetized in other ways, you need 1000 followers.
I’m not at 1000 followers yet but I am over 500 and I’m on the verge of unlocking Facebook Stars — days away!
It’s not a huge money thing but it’s a start. Viewers can show support by sending stars when they enjoy your content. Lives, reels, or even just posts. It’s a marathon, not a sprint; I’m not pretending otherwise.
