AI and tech sales in Zurich. Off the clock I write what I really think about games, music, D&D, Swiss politics and whatever else grabs me this week.

A place to slow down and think

AI depiction of me and my thoughts…

I’m in my late 30s, living in Zürich, one of the most appreciated cities in the world. I have a great work-life balance and I just got married.

I am in a moment in my life where it feels like I finally know, better, who I am. I know what motivates me, what energises me, and which situations or people I can clearly say no to without feeling bad about it. I know we are always changing, but right now it feels just right. I am in the pocket.

Nevertheless, I have this strong feeling of uncertainty around me.

For me, it feels like there is a growing misalignmentbetween businesses and their goals and how they go about achieving them. Strangely, when I talk to work peers and personal friends, many seem to feel the same. They struggle with job uncertainty, with disagreements over decisions made by employers, and with the direction of politics and world leaders.

The feeling has been growing year by year. A feeling that genuineness is becoming harder to find. More and more things feel performative. In the short term, social media seems to have amplified that. We have all been talking about this. It rewards strong opinions, quick reactions and certainty.

I created this space to do the opposite of what the feed wants from me.

I have a high interest in many things. That’s probably a consequence of being naturally curious. I enjoy learning from people who know much more than I do. It forces me to rethink my assumptions. It keeps me grounded. It reminds me that I am not better than anyone else, and that there is always something new to learn.

My close friends know this. I have opinions, and in the day to day I am not shy about them being the opposite of the mainstream. For years, most of these thoughts went into group chats, long messages nobody asked for, and arguments with friends over dinner or after a game of football.

This space is me deciding to put them somewhere that sticks around.

I will use this space to write, hopefully every week, about what I learned, what I have been thinking about, and whatever has managed to occupy my mind recently. The topics will be all over the place: PC games, especially the strange and brilliant indie titles that never get a billboard. Horror movies, because I genuinely believe horror and comedy are the two hardest genres to get right. The music industry, which I stay fascinated by after running a label for years and trying to help Swiss artists reach audiences outside the Swiss bubble, especially now that AI is entering the picture. Dungeons & Dragons, because I run a table myself and probably spend more time thinking about it than I should. Swiss politics. New gadgets. Swiss start-ups quietly building interesting things. Football. Stand-up comedy, which I think is one of the most underrated crafts around. And whatever TV series has currently eaten my evenings.

I wanted a room of my own to work these thoughts out properly. Somewhere I can slow down, look at the facts, think things through and commit to an opinion instead of firing off another message into a group chat. In a world that rewards the fast and the certain, taking the time to actually think feels almost like a small act of resistance. That is what this blog is for.

So if you also feel that quiet uncertainty, the sense that genuineness is getting harder to find, maybe this is a place for both of us to look for it.

You are very welcome to disagree with me. I am quietly hoping some of you will.
