Headline from foxnews.com: “Over 100 convicted sex offenders and violent criminals removed in single ICE sweep.” Thank you, Gentlemen.

From FN: “Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary among nations now rejecting EU’s climate push.” Three countries that experienced totalitarian rule vs elites who tell everyone how to live.

RIP rock n roll pioneer Freddy Cannon (Picariello), 89. Born in Massachusetts, he grew up listening to big-beat jazz and rhythm and blues, influenced by Big Joe Turner, Buddy Holly and Little Richard. Known as “Boom Boom” because of his up-tempo style, he broke big in 1959 with Tallahassee Lassie, based on a poem written by his mom. It hit #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. He followed it with Way Down Yonder in New Orleans, a revival of a 1922 song, which peaked at #3. In ’62 Pallisades Park, originally a B side, also rose to #3. In all he placed 29 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. He holds the all-time record for the most appearances on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, 110. Married to his high school sweetheart, he was a father of three. Awesome, Goombah. Thank you. Facts from Google AI Mode, photo from Google Images:

RIP MLB stalwart RHP Duane Ward, 62. Tragically, he passed away in a hotel room while in town to celebrate the unveiling of a statue commemorating his team’s greatest success. Born in New Mexico, he was a first round pick, ninth overall, in the 1982 MLB June Amateur Draft, selected by Atlanta. He was traded to Toronto in 1986. He had a breakout season in ’88, mostly as a setup man, winning nine games. He was a main cog in the Blue Jays back-to-back championships. He was the winning pitcher in two games of the ’92 World Series and saved two in ’93. His era was 1.13 in the Fall Classic. He was an All-Star in ’93, a season in which he had a franchise record 45 saves. From ’88 through ’92 he became the only reliever in MLB history to throw over 100 innings out of the bullpen in five consecutive seasons. Overall, in ten seasons he was 32–37, had 121 saves and a 3.28 ERA. He is a member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. Following his retirement, he spent a lot of time traveling across Canada to host Blue Jays Honda Super Camps for kids. He was guarded about his family life. Well done, Sir. Couldn’t ask for a nicer July day, but the Anti-Inflation Book Shop was a disappointment. My thanks to Danny, who donated a bunch of miscellaneous items, and to the woman who delivered two novels in Russian; and to The Quiet Man, who accounted for the only sales of the session, vinyl records by The Four Aces and comedian Pat Cooper aka Pascuale Caputo.
