Dead Rising’s remake Censors a great deal. But what about the Fat People? Or any identity sensitivity? oh wait. Censorship and Bowdlerizing never makes any sense.
Recently, I wrote about how, for what ever reason, Capcom and the powers that be saw it fit to bowdlerize and remove Asian representation, or remove an “offensive stereotype” depending on how you look at it.
The Books of Dr Seuss were removed from print and I rescued a fantastic write up on the issue of Censorship De Jure and De Facto.(the publication/website, Aero, is shutting down along with all the wonderful things on it)
But i have to ask. why the change? And is it enough?
We could go on and on about Sinophobia, sensitivity but it doesn’t add up.
Of course racism was and is bad, but the game wasn’t racist when it was made and the claims of “Stop Asian Hate”. Only came about as people tried to make bank off a few tragic murders… falsely reported as white nationalism.
Why is this going on after Ivy leagues were being sued for discrimination against those of Asian decent and heritage. and the whole idea of affirmative action were keeping out Asian Americans from Ivy League schools so they could “uplift” others of another identity.
I get that that racism has been a thing but a VIDEO GAME IS NOT THAT!
Fiction is not that. but let’s say it is. what of other identities?
But what of being fat? Will that be next to stop and remedy?
Just how much of the original story will be left after we apply that argument to every identity?
They, have a whole manifesto too. Decades of activism and the like. So what then? They have a point where the health industry has a problem. That such people who are fat are relentlessly mocked in media and that could arguably cause hatred to real people.
So what is going on there?
Even NPR talks about it:
“Although the Fat Acceptance Movement has been around for decades, it’s moved far beyond a fight for more inclusive policies in recent years.
As the average weight of an American rises, anti-fat biases increase along with it. A 2019 study based on responses to Harvard’s Implicit Association Test found that implicit weight bias increased by 40 percent between 2004 and 2010.”
and there’s that “inclusive” word again.
But why do we not seem to consider this as valid?
And is it really helping? We’ve seen the death toll of such inclusive policies.
We see the mockery of America’s obsession on race and not offending.
But it’s easy to see that we’re not fixing anything except to try and sweep things under the rug and flatten and make fiction bland instead of doing any real change.
I’ve gone in to the terror and horrible bullcrap that is at the very intentional feature of every and any “cosmic justice” program.
We hold PETA to distain and mock their demands but how long will that continue?
Where’s the consistency? Where’s the sense? Where’s the heart? Or rather, why is the heart and calls to empathy being weaponized to enact bowlderizing and revisions that do not serve anyone?

Worse yet, these sensitivity readers and the ratings boards of Australia, have been shown to not be in the interest of consumers but ideological bigots who need more and more things to flag. and lied about Grand Theft Auto V… and got a sex-ed book removed from the shelves of BIG W, after collective shout physically assaulted people. Over a book. That helps people.
When they’re not talking about the harmful effects of a bakery making baudy and fun jokes.. they’re working with pedos.
and are now at the center of a scandal and work with NCOSE (formerly morality in media)
Some how Capcom is more worried about bad press and so will listen to such people that have harmed companies and free expression… as they listen to the people that bailed out pedos.
i mean…
i mean.. the censorship to pro pedo pipeline is pretty clear!
and it’s legally defensable because this is public record. With official statments no less.
but some how we have to be mmore worried about R mika and how women are dressed in games?
That you want to court a toxic group of people that hate the originals. hate art… and want it banned and censored… and then cry when the extremists do exactly that?
The pro censorship people are the worst of the worst of bigots
And now we have a new swell of anti censorship sentiment because… what we’ve warned people would happen, happened.
i mean if you want more harm. go ahead.
keep censoring and sayign the originals, that made you the power houses you are today are “inferior”.
By who’s standards?
I’m not believing the claims of “external influences” at all. It would still be stupidly suspect regardless. Censorship always is, by nature, a Social pressure or guilt that is making you do something you otherwise wouldn’t. At best it’s a self imposed shame over something that isn't obscene or harmful.
you can’t say that the influences aren’t external with crap like this.
You cannot say the influnces aren’t external when the REASON for such changes is, in official press releases, is for GLOBAL STANDARDS.
Meanwhile, Daragami Games, in not censoring Lollipop Chainsaw has officially reported that they BROKE SALES PROJECTIONS and got far more than they thought.

and we’re not talking 15%. We’re talking about half again.
And we see this same thing happened where the uncensored version of Omega Labrynth Life Z versus the SONY version.
