NaNoWriMo April 2023
After vacillating over what exactly I was going to do for the April NaNoWriMo Camp I stayed with revising and editing ‘Belling The Cat’ which forms the first part of the novella and once that was done I carried on with editing ‘BYRD’ which carries on the tale 70 years later.
I set myself a fairly conservative word count for the editing work, but blew through that with an extra 2700 words once I’d finished editing ‘BYRD’ Chapter Two.
Chapter Three, — which covers the year Byrd spent as a Bodii slave, — is about two thirds done; — only I’d decided that finished chapters would count towards the total. There’s another two chapters after Chapter Three which I’ve read through, but not done any work on yet.
Chapter Three, — and parts of Chapter Four as well, — are pretty darn dark and have been a challenge to edit since there’s a fair depth of conflicted emotion to sort out and Byrd comes very close to discarding the rules she lives by because she’s fallen in love with her Bodii master; — and just to mix it all up a bit more her Bodii master has fallen in love with her and because he’s Bodii he hates and loves her in equal measure.
