I Tested Ruff vs Flake8 vs Pylint- One Tool Replaced All Three
The Python linter that was 10–100x faster and made my setup much simpler.
My Python setup had become too complicated.
Three different tools.
Multiple config files.
And constant small issues to fix.
Flake8 checked code style.
Black formatted the code.
Pylint looked for deeper problems.
But managing all of them together was frustrating.
Each tool had different settings.
Different rules.
And sometimes they even gave conflicting suggestions.
Then I discovered Ruff.
A very fast tool built in Rust that can replace Flake8, Black, Pylint, and several other Python tools in one package.
So I decided to test it on a real production project.
47,000 lines of Python code.
180 files.
Used daily for two weeks.
The results were interesting.
Some tasks became incredibly fast.
The overall workflow became much cleaner.
But a few things were not as perfect as people on the internet claimed.
