Dynamic Support and Resistance: How Moving Averages Quietly Control Price
The first time I drew support and resistance on a chart, I was confident I had nailed it.
The level was clean. The touches were perfect.
And the market ignored it completely.
Price stopped just before my line, reversed without me, and left me staring at a chart wondering what I missed. That moment taught me something most traders learn the hard way: markets don’t respect fixed lines nearly as much as we want them to.
Markets move. They breathe. They trend.
And static support and resistance often fail because they assume the market stands still.
That’s when I started paying attention to dynamic support and resistance — and more specifically, moving averages.
Why Static Levels Feel Right — but Often Fail
Most traders begin the same way.
They mark highs and lows. Draw horizontal lines. Label them support and resistance.
There’s nothing wrong with this. Static levels do work.
But they have a limitation no one talks about early on.
Static levels don’t adapt.
