Intro
When I joined my current company in a DevOps position, I was genuinely surprised by how much Bash is needed. It’s essentially required for everything — daily tasks like networking, VPN setup, disk partitioning, user management, new server setup, and troubleshooting under pressure.
Of course, you can automate many tasks with Ansible. But to what extent can it replace Bash's flexibility? For instance, when someone asks to be added to a group, will you write a role or playbook for that? No. Or for tasks like filtering /var/log, Bash is your best friend—not Ansible.
