A 52 Week Photography Challenge

Time Waits for No One / Image by Author / October 2026

OK, well, it is November, and what they say is true: time waits for no one.

I spent most of September visiting friends and family in Europe. Planes, trains, cheese, and beer. I managed to buy a few old Russian and East German cameras and shoot a bunch of film.

I did not take a computer, which is my excuse for not keeping up with the challenges.

The film is now all developed and scanned, and I have a moment, so I will get my pics posted. I will start with October, and get back to September when I find some more time. I hope this is OK.

No long stories this month, just a few tag lines.

Gravity / Image by Author / September 2026 / Avignon, France

Chapter 41: Gravity

It is difficult to ignore the gravity of the situation.

Other People’s Houses / Image by Author / September 2026 / Lordes, France

Chapter 42: Other People’s Houses

People live here. They really do. It’s real. It even looks like this (sort of), well, not the dbl exposure part — but the roughness of the houses.

The Shape of Water / Image by Author / September 2026 / Copenhagen, Denmark

Chapter 43: The Shape of Water

I love photographing water! So many ways to shoot it.

This time, I took the prompt literally. This is from a fountain in a city square.

What is interesting to me is that if you look at the image rotated 90deg cw, it resembles the pattern made by bark on a tree.

Sort of random, but not quite, like a lot of things in nature.

Spin / Image by Author / September 2026 / Prague, Czech Republic

Chapter 44: Spin

The Head of Franz Kafka. Yes, a ‘normal’ photo! Strange that I would choose Kafka to shoot as a plain old snapshot!

The head is quite large, maybe 10m high. The horizontal slabs rotate (spin?) in what seems to be a random manner such that the statue changes shape over time.

Honestly, I was more interested in the large shiny stainless steel cylinders that are in the plaza surrounding the statue, as they reflect the nearby buildings and crowds in a funky, surrealistic manner.

October 2026 — Gravity was originally published in Full Frame on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.
