Donald Trump has said so many outrageous things over the last decade that it’s almost impossible to keep up. Every week seems to bring another headline, another speech, another interview, another social media post that dominates the news cycle for a day before being replaced by the next controversy.
It’s exhausting.
Somewhere along the way, many of us became desensitised. Statements that would have ended almost any politician’s career twenty years ago now barely survive twenty-four hours in the headlines before disappearing into the endless churn of modern politics.
That’s partly why I wanted to write this article.
Political opinions are one thing. Every democracy needs disagreement. I don’t expect everyone to support the same candidates or believe in the same policies, and I certainly don’t think every Republican voter is automatically a bad person. But there comes a point where criticism stops being about ideology and starts being about character.
