To get you ready for the final home game of 2015, here’s a look at some notable notes and highlights from today’s game notes:
- Thank you, San Diego — Entering play today, the Padres have drawn 2,437,613 fans to Petco Park this season, already the seventh-highest season attendance in franchise history and the fifth-largest since moving into their downtown ballpark in 2004. Their 2015 attendance numbers will be their largest since drawing 2,790,074 fans to Petco Park during the 2007 season.
- 30-for-30 — With today being Ian Kennedy’s 30th start of the season, he has made 30 starts in six consecutive seasons since 2010. Kennedy will be the only National League pitcher to start 30+ games in each of his last six seasons since the start of that 2010 season.
- Hell’s Bells — The Padres own a 61–0 record this season when leading after eight innings, one of three National League teams to be undefeated when leading after the eighth inning and the second-most wins without a loss, trialing only the Nationals (71–0). Philadelphia holds a 48–0 record when leading after the eighth inning.
- Bully-Pen — After last night’s outing, the Padres bullpen has not been charged with a run in six consecutive games since September 24th vs. San Francisco, their longest such streak of the season and their longest such streak since also going six straight games without allowing a run from August 5th to August 11th of last season.
- Keeping the Brew Local — The Padres own an all-time 21–14 record (.600) advantage over the Brewers at Petco Park, the Friars’ second-best record against a National League opponent in downtown San Diego. The only team the Padres have a better record against at Petco Park is the New York Mets with a 26–14 record (.650). Since Petco Park opened in 2004, the Padres pitching staff owns a 2.98 ERA with 279 strikeouts against 120 walks with a .223 opponent batting average in 35 meetings against the Milwaukee Brewers.
