From Shoe Specs to Recommendations: Building a Running Shoe Recommender
Let’s build an app to help us choose the right running shoes.
Overview
To fellow runners out there: if you’re anything like me, you pay a lot of attention to how your shoes feel. After all, they are with you for hundreds of miles (if you chose them right!), and make a big impact on your running experience.
The right shoes can make you feel light and bouncy as you pick up the pace, and the wrong shoes can make you feel sloggish and heavy even on the easy days. And of course, if you don’t hit your goal race time, it’s because of the shoes! :)
To prevent us from choosing the wrong shoes, let’s build an app to recommend shoes for us.
For anybody who couldn’t care less about running, we’ll still learn about the general process of building a recommender app for any product.
