He Defied the Odds!
Little Grayson Kole Smith was born in 2013 in Helfin, Alabama. He was born with 22 different medical anomalies, and doctors told his parents he wouldn’t live past two weeks. His medical condition included he was born deaf, blind, missing 1/3 of his skull, and a hole in his heart. Because of these medical rarities, he was the only one in the world with these conditions. As a result, this condition was named Grayson’s syndrome for him. Genetic testing was done, but every test came back negative. Doctors could not explain as to why this happened.
His parents, Kendyl and Jennifer, wouldn’t give up on Grayson, so they took him home surrounded by love. Jennifer decided to go on Facebook, hoping to connect with other families in similar situations. She posted pictures of Grayson on her Facebook page. Later, she found his picture had been taken and became a meme with a cruel caption reading “The face you make when your parents are cousins.”
Jennifer was shocked at the cruelty of online bullies. She took the story public and demanded the pictures be taken down, and many apologized. This was her son, and he needed empathy and respect. He was loved by his brothers and parents, and Grayson fought to survive every day.
