When You Start Seeing People Differently
Healing doesn’t always change the people around you. Sometimes, it changes the way you see them.
There comes a point in the healing journey when something inside you begins to shift.
You start noticing things you previously ignored.
The conversations that leave you exhausted.
The relationships that feel one-sided.
The patterns of manipulation, criticism, control, or emotional neglect.
The people you constantly tried to understand, excuse, or please.
And suddenly, you begin to see them differently.
It can be uncomfortable.
Sometimes you may even wonder:
“Were these people always like this, or have they changed?”
Perhaps neither.
Maybe you have changed.
Healing opens your eyes
When we are constantly trying to survive, please others, seek approval, or avoid conflict, we may develop the habit of tolerating things that don’t feel right.
We tell ourselves:
“That’s just how they are.”
