Whenever 26th January comes, my heart automatically travels back to childhood ☺️. School days, early mornings, neatly ironed uniforms, and that special excitement in the air Republic Day always felt different. It wasn’t just another school day; it felt like a celebration.

But for those who don’t really know why 26th January is important, here’s a little Indian history in simple words.
On 26th January 1950, India officially became a Republic. This was the day when the Indian Constitution came into effect. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar played a huge role in drafting it, and this Constitution gave India its own laws, rights, and identity. That’s why we celebrate this day every year as Republic Day to remember when India truly started running on its own rules.

As kids, maybe we didn’t understand all this history deeply, but we felt the pride. Preparations used to start days before dance practices, speeches, poems, and lots of excitement. Honestly, preparation time also meant full-on masti 😄. Laughing with classmates, joking around with teachers, sometimes getting scolded, sometimes getting praised it was all part of the fun.

Sitting in the school ground and watching performances was pure joy. Patriotic songs…
