Configuring OutSystems MCP O11 Server Connection with GitHub Copilot CLI via Windows PowerShell

--

Given the new boost that OutSystems has given us all with Agent Experience (https://go.outsystems.com/agentexperience), it’s important to know how to configure our tools. Since most documentation explains configuration using Claude Code, I’m writing this article to demonstrate how I configured the GitHub Copilot CLI to connect to the Service Studio MCP server (O11) in order to get the most out of the tools.

Fig 0 — This is just an illustrative image related to the article’s subject

So, let’s get started.

First, get the GitHub Copilot CLI via PowerShell with the command:

winget install GitHub.Copilot

Next, execute the command:

copilot

The next step is to accept (or not) the permissions to read and execute commands in the folder described in Fig 1:

The next step is to log in. To do this, execute the following command:

After that, you must choose the type of account to log in with and follow the steps that appear:

Now we move on to Service Studio. The IDE must be connected to the environment where we want to work with the GitHub Copilot CLI so that it can recognize the necessary code and artifacts.

We must access the “Edit” menu and select the “MCP Server” option:

Then we copy the link, we can configure it to initialize on startup if Service Studio starts, and we can enable automatic merges:

After initializing the MCP server, in PowerShell we must execute the following command:

copilot mcp add --transport http servicestudio http://127.0.0.1:41820/mcp

IMPORTANT: Always verify the IP address (from the copied URL) and port in the MCP server settings in Service Studio to ensure the command in PowerShell uses the correct parameters.

The first time we interact with the MCP server, we have to accept the creation of the session token:

Finally, just accept the connection in Service Studio:

And now we can fully utilize the MCP server in O11:

And that’s it! I hope this article, as always, can be useful in helping you explore more ground in Outsystems Agent Experience!
