Senior frontend interviews are not always what people expect.

You might spend half an interview discussing JavaScript fundamentals. Another company might focus on React, performance, or application architecture. Sometimes you’ll be asked to design an entire frontend system.

I’ve experienced this difference myself.

Having worked extensively with fintech applications and payment-related systems, I’ve been asked about WebSockets, polling, real-time communication, and security. Other discussions have focused on React, architecture, and how to approach problems in existing applications.

The questions often depend on the company and the type of product they’re building.

But there’s something I’ve noticed: at the senior level, knowing the definition of a concept is rarely enough.

You need to explain when you’d use it, what could go wrong, and what trade-offs you’d consider.

I put together these 20 questions to cover the areas I believe are worth preparing for, regardless of the industry.
