7 Things Every Frontend Developer Should Know About System Design
What working on trading platforms, large-scale applications, and performance optimization taught me about frontend engineering.
Imagine you’re building a crypto trading platform.
The backend has hundreds of financial instruments, but your frontend displays only 10 at a time.
Users can search, apply filters, and switch between pages.
Meanwhile, prices keep changing through WebSocket connections.
Sounds simple, right?
But here’s where things get interesting.
What happens when someone searches for an instrument that isn’t on the current page?
What happens when the user changes a filter while live price updates are still arriving?
And how do you keep everything synchronized without making the application unnecessarily complicated?
These are the kinds of challenges I’ve encountered while working on real-world fintech applications.
And they taught me something important:
Building a feature and designing a reliable system are two different things.
React can help us build the interface.
