Thrilled that Mike Breen will be throwing out the first pitch before our game with the Chicago Cubs Monday night.

Sure, Mike is a Hall of Fame basketball announcer, and he did a great job of emceeing the Knicks parade this last week. For me, he always will be a dedicated and loyal Mets fan who is one of us, both in good times and bad times.
When people talk about OG’s magical tip-in, Mike recalls the spectacular catches Ron Swoboda and Tommie Agee made to save the 1969 World Series. His favorite player as a kid was Bud Harrelson, and he always wore number 3 to pay tribute.
Mike was in awe every time Tom Seaver took the mound. When he had an off day on the road, he, Mark Jackson, and Jeff Van Gundy would always pop up to see us play. I have known Mike Breen since his days of doing sports for Don Imus on WFAN. Despite his fame, he hasn’t changed one bit.
Enjoy tonight, Mike. I know you will throw a strike.
