How To Become A Writer
We’re seeking writers who are passionate about machine learning, AI, and neural networks — whether you’re a researcher, ML engineer, quantitative analyst, content creator, or someone fascinated by the intersection of data science and real-world problem-solving. We welcome diverse perspectives and expertise levels, from beginner tutorials to advanced research discussions.
To become a writer:
- Simply leave your Medium username and a brief description of your expertise or interests in the comment section. Tell us what areas of ML/AI excite you most.
- We’d also love it if you clap this article and follow the publication to stay updated on the latest submissions.
How To Submit
Submit your stories by following Medium’s tutorial on how to add a draft or post to publication.
If you don’t hear back from us within three business days, please assume that we have respectfully considered and passed on your submission. We receive many submissions and review each one carefully.
Submission Guidelines
To ensure the highest quality of content and maintain consistency with Neural Notions’ standards, please follow these guidelines:

Content Requirements
- Minimum Length: All submissions must be at least 500 words. Shorter pieces, while occasionally considered, will be evaluated for exceptional quality and unique insights.
- Technical Rigor: Articles should demonstrate solid understanding of ML/AI concepts. If explaining complex topics, do so with accuracy and nuance.
- Original Value: Your article should provide either new insights, practical techniques, comprehensive tutorials, or thoughtful analysis that benefits our readers. Avoid generic or surface-level treatments of well-covered topics.
- Human Voice & Connection: Articles should reflect genuine expertise and passion. We reject submissions that lack human insight, sound formulaic, or appear to be primarily AI-generated without substantial human authorship and refinement.
Code & Technical Content
- Code Blocks: Any code snippets should be functional, well-commented, and directly relevant to your article’s narrative. Test your code before submission.
- AI-Generated Code: If you used AI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.) to assist with code generation, clearly disclose this within the article. Describe how you validated, modified, or improved the code.
- Libraries & Dependencies: Specify versions and provide installation instructions where relevant.
Visual Content & Media
- Images, Diagrams & Illustrations: All visual content must be appropriately captioned. If images or graphics are AI-generated (using DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, etc.), explicitly label them as such with a caption noting the AI tool used.
- Diagrams & Charts: Original diagrams, architectural drawings, and data visualizations are highly encouraged. Ensure they’re clear, properly labeled, and enhance understanding.
- Source Attribution: Cite sources for any images, datasets, or referenced research. Use proper attribution for images from external sources.
Writing & Formatting Standards
- Grammar & Proofreading: Submissions should be well-written with minimal typographical or grammatical errors. Use a grammar checker (Grammarly, etc.) before submitting.
- Formatting: Use Medium’s built-in formatting tools effectively — headings, subheadings, bullet points, code blocks, and line breaks — to improve readability.
- Tone: Write for an intelligent, technically-minded audience. Avoid overly casual language, but also avoid unnecessarily dense prose. Aim for clarity and accessibility without sacrificing depth.
- Citations & References: Link to research papers, documentation, or sources you reference. Use Medium’s linking feature or embed arXiv links where appropriate.
Disclosure & Authenticity
- AI-Assisted Writing: If you used AI writing tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to draft, edit, or significantly refine your article, disclose this. Be transparent about the extent of AI involvement.
- Conflicts of Interest: If you’re writing about tools, platforms, or products you have a financial interest in, clearly disclose this.
- Plagiarism: All content must be original or properly attributed. Do not submit previously published work without explicit permission and disclosure.
Submission Restrictions
- Active Submissions: Approved writers may have up to 5 active submissions under review simultaneously. New writers may have up to 3 active submissions under review at any given time.
Rejection Criteria: Submissions will be rejected if they:
- Fall below the 500-word minimum
- Contain excessive grammatical or typographical errors
- Lack technical depth or accuracy
- Provide little substantive value to readers
- Appear primarily AI-generated without meaningful human contribution
- Lack proper formatting or readability
- Violate our disclosure guidelines
