Report: Marlins shopping Jacob Turner, Diamondbacks interested
By Andrew Vigliotti
4:52 PM: Outside Pitch Sports Network is hearing the Diamondbacks are indeed interested in Turner, who was originally reported to be on the trading block by Fox Sports’ Jon Morosi earlier Thursday afternoon.
2:15 PM: The Miami Marlins have some depth in the starting rotation entering this season, thus are gauging the interest for right-hander Jacob Turner, tweets Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.
Turner, once a highly-touted prospect in the Detroit Tigers organization, came over to the Marlins in a trade with Rob Brantly and Brian Flynn for second baseman Omar Infante and right-hander Anibal Sanchez on July 23, 2012.
It’s been an up-and-down road for the 22-year-old since making his debut with the Tigers in 2011. He posted an 8.53 ERA in three starts in 2011. He combined to go 2–5 with a 4.42 ERA in 10 starts with the Tigers and Marlins in 2012 in 55 innings. He posted a 3–8 record with a 3.74 ERA in 20 starts for the Marlins last year, posting 77 strikeouts and an alarming 54 walks in 118 innings.

The Marlins have Ace right-hander Jose Fernandez along with Nathan Eovaldi, Henderson Alvarez, Brad Hand and Tom Koehler in addition to Turner in their rotation.
The Seattle Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks are possible fits as Morosi tweeted. The Diamondbacks just lost ace southpaw Patrick Corbin for the entire season with a torn Ulnar Collateral Ligament. Right-hander Bronson Arroyo, who they signed last month, will start the season on the disabled list with back issues. The Seattle Mariners are dealing with injuries to Hisashi Iwakuma (finger) and Taijuan Walker (shoulder) might not be ready for the season. Walker is progressing slowly after throwing a 50-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday. Both teams have a need with pitching as of right now.
The Braves are an interesting team as well, but given the fact the Marlins share the same division and Atlanta just signed Ervin Santana, the Braves have a couple in-house options they could turn to before talking to their division rivals about trading for a young pitcher.
