Securing HP Printers: How to Safeguard Departmental Printing with Encryption and Access Controls

--

Here is a simple version of how you would securely set up HP printers in several company departments:

Use Virtual Local Area Networks (Rooms):

Department A Printer: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw (Room A) Department B Printer: HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M528dn ( Room B) Department C Printer: HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 (Room C) Apply Printer

Access Rules: Inside the office, only the appropriate department’s computers can use their printers.

Remote Workers: Set up a VPN so that remote workers can connect to their workstation printer.

Lock the Printer Settings: Ensure that only appropriate department personnel and remote employees can change the settings.

Enable Encryption Settings in Printer Configuration:

  • Access the web interface or control panel of each printer. Go to the settings for security and encryption.
  • Look for options like “Encryption” or “Secure Communications.” Enable the encryption setting if it is not already enabled.
  • Ensure that the strongest encryption protocols available (such as AES) are selected.
