These 12 Python Libraries Solve Problems I Used to Overcomplicate
I used to write hundreds of lines of code for problems that already had elegant solutions. These Python libraries taught me that being a better developer isn’t always about writing more code.
There was a time when I thought good Python developers wrote everything themselves.
Need to retry an API request? Write a custom loop.
Need to process a large CSV file? Load everything into Pandas and hope memory holds up.
Need to validate incoming data? Add a collection of if statements.
Need to build a command-line tool? Start with input(), print statements, and a growing pile of conditions.
It felt productive. I was writing code, solving problems, and learning along the way.
But eventually, I noticed something uncomfortable.
Some of my longest solutions were solving problems that other developers handled with a single function call.
The problem wasn’t that I couldn’t write the code. It was that I kept solving problems at a lower level than necessary.
