--

By RaysRadio

Updated 10:50 a.m. After collecting a season-high 15 runs in a 15–1 win over San Diego on Tuesday, the Rays will look to sweep the Padres this afternoon at Tropicana Field. The Rays have won three straight games overall, scoring 35 runs in the process, the most in franchise history over a three-game stretch.

Tampa Bay hit five homers and collected ten extra-base hits yesterday, and that’s now 23 extra-base hits in the past three games. The Rays have scored at least eight runs in three straight games, the first time that’s happened since 2012.

Today Evan Longoria plays his 1236th career game, passing Carl Carwford for the franchise record. Longoria had two more extra-base hits yesterday, and now has 61 this season, including a team-best 27 homers.

Chris Archer takes the mound for Tampa Bay today. Archer gave up five runs in six innings his last time out on Friday in New York. Archer has gone at least six innings now in seven straight starts. Four of the five runs he gave up his last time out scored with two out.

The Rays will be without both Matt Duffy and Logan Forsythe today. Duffy left yesterday’s game with mild soreness in his left achilles and Forsythe was a late scratch with back spasms. Hear an update from Duffy below:
