A Not-So-Normal Weekend
Two lunches and a movie night
After my weekend with the boys at Maryborough, I knew I was in for a treat. I told Jerv I loved ethnic food but never get the chance to go out for an ethnic meal. He offered to cook me a genuine Armenian meal at his new house sit. I honestly can’t tell you what most of the dishes were, but they were all delicious. Baba ghanoush is the only one I knew. Those things that look like chickpeas are actually cooked corn, just not long enough for it to pop. Mint leaves, olives and pickled carrots and cucumber. There was barely room on the table when the mains were served.
Of course, as soon as they were served, I dug in before waiting for Jerv to explain how they were to be eaten. First tear off a single thickness of flat bread, and load it with a finely-cut salad, and then choose a vegetarian or meat dish. The leftover vegetarian meal I took to my girls’ lunch. They all loved it. I added some tzatziki and lime juice. It went perfectly with the Botanical salads Gail had brought, and the tasty lasagna Bernadette had baked. Damn. I was so hungry I forgot to take photos.
Our dessert girl had come down with the flu, so wasn’t able to make it. She makes, hands down, the best pav(lova) I’ve ever eaten. Bernadette came to the rescue with a Basque Burnt…
