Questions That Make Me Scratch My Head
Language: the foundation of an amusing life
First thing I’ll admit is that as a Baby Boomer, one of the phases we went through in high school was the use of puns. Every generation develops its own communication styles that leave previous generations scratching their heads. (Or worse, maybe, I don’t know.) For me, I can’t keep up with the latest words being used.
What does it mean? Why? Who started it?
Okay, sorry for the little swerve into parody of a famous commentator. Herewith are the questions I ponder, though not really for long.
Who was Violet, and why was she shrinking?
I mean, was it a medical condition? Do others have it, unbeknownst to them? (That would explain all those shrinking Violets I heard about.) Did she actually know something before Honey I Shrunk the Kids?
I do enough walking
So when someone asks me to ‘go the extra mile’, I politely decline. I’d rather sit here on the couch and watch TV, thank you very much. And why does it have to be a mile? What if I only needed to go an extra hundred yards?
In Europe, do they say, ‘go the extra kilometer’? I’ve never heard it, but haven’t spent much…
