I Thought I Was Too Late
Until a simple piece of advice changed my perspective
I was raised in a strict family, so I tended to view everything negatively.
I felt that no matter what I said, my father would get angry. As a result, I learned to hide my feelings and stopped expressing my own opinions. Perhaps because of this, I wasn’t very interested in many things.
As an adult, I feel as though I’ve been trying to make up for lost time by learning as much as I can.
However, the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. I often worried that I was learning things too late in life.
Then an older woman once said to me,
“Isn’t it better to learn it now than ten years from now?”
I was struck by such a positive way of thinking. It turned my perspective upside down.
Those words have become one of my guiding principles ever since.
