Echoes of a Velvet Soul
When I look in the mirror, I see someone filled with questions that echo louder in silence — questions I sometimes fear will never find answers. I see someone who has learned to smile through the illusion of certainty, wearing bravery like makeup that conceals the trembling beneath.
There’s a softness in me, like velvet worn but not torn; the kind of softness that comes from surviving, from bending instead of breaking. My reflection often feels like both a stranger and a friend, someone still trying to make peace with the past while holding space for a future I can’t quite picture.
Inside me, something fragile continues to bloom slowly and cautiously, like a flower afraid of the light but longing for it anyway. In the quiet moments, when I dare to listen closely, I hear whispers not of who I should be, but of who I already am, trying to be seen beneath all the layers.
