Hooray. I’ve finished a knitted dishcloth.

It will be useful though not ornamental.

Can a girl ever have too many dishcloths?

In my lodgings we have most modern conveniences, but we don’t have a dishwasher, so a dishcloth comes in useful.

Happily, my stab at knitting dishcloth ended up looking as it was supposed to this time, and not like the front of a thong (which my previous attempt at a similar project did).

Mosaic design for lantern — work in progress. Photo by author.

At the Wednesday craft group we were working on making simple lanterns (to hold tea lights — battery-operated ones, not those that burn a naked flame). These are still a work in progress.

On Friday I went to the Zentangling group. The theme was Halloween.

I designed a zentangle depicting a tipsy witch.

Another design I made was of a cat, but not a black one, because it was easier to draw lines representing the cat’s fur (for me at least) if the cat was not depicted as solid black.

I found these activities enjoyable. I may make another dishcloth, though perhaps try a slightly more elaborate pattern. There’s no reason an item shouldn’t be both useful and ornamental.

I'm a retired secretary. I've enjoyed writing as a hobby since childhood and decided to try my luck on Medium. Looking out for side hustles :).
