Since When Is Talking About Your IQ a Thing?
Hi, I’m Arthur, and my IQ is 124. And you are?
As I was listening to Trump’s “speech” at a rally in Bullhead City, Arizona, this morning, he spoke of Governor Katie Hobbs as a “low-IQ individual.”
This statement is wrong in so many ways.
First, before the era of Trump, a president wouldn’t call the governor of the host state a low-IQ individual. In fact, in this situation, a president probably wouldn’t mention the governor at all unless that person was from the same party.
Sure, partisan politics have been around for a long time. Trump just made it more acceptable. And nasty.
What other president or presidential candidate before Trump ever talked about one’s IQ?
Answer: None.
Trump has made discussing one’s IQ “normal”.
In the same speech, Trump talked about aptitude tests he took in which he was given five words and asked to repeat them. He then named off five words and repeated them. You don’t think he had a little piece of paper on the podium? Trump said he had passed that test, and that few others could. Does that make him qualified to be president? Or to be one who possesses the nuclear codes?
