I always write about cities where I’ve stayed for at least two days. Würzburg was an exception. I spent only about 4 hours there, yet somehow saw and felt enough to want to share.

What started as a stop for my sister and me on the route from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Frankfurt became a town to remember.

Since Deutsche Bahn allows stopovers of up to 48 hours on certain routes, we decided on a 4-hour stop in Würzburg. We thought that might be enough time to see the Old Town and its UNESCO World Heritage site. We were so wrong!

Arrival

On the morning of February 17, we boarded a regional train at Rothenburg ob der Tauber central station, which took us to Steinach in just 15 minutes. There, we transferred to another regional train and arrived in Würzburg just 44 minutes later, at 11:30 AM.
