So You Think It’s Cold…
Yes, but have you ever been this cold?
Have you ever been really really cold?
Thinking back over times in my life when I’ve felt somewhere between chilly and ‘block of ice frozen’, I’ve realised something.
Sometimes it’s less to do with the weather and more to do with what’s going on inside you.
My best memory of being cold was when as a child I was marching home through snow at twilight! I must have been about 12 years old. I’d taken myself into town that afternoon and what had started as a flurry turned into a near whiteout. I didn’t have a mobile phone (dark days before they were invented!) nor the money for a bus or phone box.
I had to make it home under my own steam. There was simply no other choice. At one point about half way home I wondered if I would make it. Maybe. someone would discover me under the snow the next day?
Eventually, having exhausted all my physical reserves, I arrived home.
Now one thing you should know here is that my mother was not the most maternal of women. I’m sure she meant well but I was told off more than encouraged. It was just the way it was apart from a few notable exceptions.
This was one of them.
