There are things we hold onto long after they have stopped being good for us.

A person.

A memory.

A version of ourselves.

A place we once called home.

A future we imagined so clearly.

We hold on because letting go feels like admitting that something mattered and still couldn't stay.

So we keep replaying old conversations.

We wonder what we could have done differently.

We imagine how things might have turned out if we'd tried a little harder.

But sometimes, there is nothing left to fix.

There is only something left to release.

“Letting go isn’t forgetting what mattered. It’s accepting that it no longer belongs in your hands.”

Not Everything Is Meant to Stay

We often believe that if something matters to us, we should hold onto it forever.
