Imagine working as a financial analyst and needing to answer a question such as:

“How has Apple’s revenue grown over the last three years, and how does that compare with Microsoft’s?”

The question sounds straightforward. But answering it properly involves several steps. We need to identify the companies, retrieve their financial statements, select the correct reporting periods, calculate the growth rates, and interpret the results.

Now imagine receiving ten similar questions every morning.

One analyst might want to compare operating margins. Another might want to evaluate debt levels. Someone else might ask which companies have consistently increased free cash flow.

Building a separate application function for every possible question becomes difficult to maintain.

This is where natural language interfaces can make financial applications more useful.

Instead of forcing users to learn database queries, API endpoints, or complicated dashboards, we can allow them to interact with financial data using everyday language.
