Why won't my Fitbit watch connect to Wi-Fi?

Make sure that your Wi-Fi network is working correctly and that your network type is compatible with your watch*. Then move on to the troubleshooting steps if needed.

* This feature isn't available on Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Versa Lite Edition, or Fitbit Versa 4.

Verify your Wi-Fi network

To verify that your Wi-Fi network is working correctly, connect another device, such as your phone or computer, to your network. If the device connects successfully, confirm your network type is compatible with your Fitbit watch by reviewing the supported network types in How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi? For best results, use your home Wi-Fi network.

Troubleshooting

Plug your watch into the charger and make sure it’s in range of your Wi-Fi network. For a stronger Wi-Fi connection, move your watch closer to your router. If you still can’t connect to Wi-Fi, complete the steps below based on your issue.

Wi-Fi won’t work on your watch when the battery level is below approximately 25%.
Why can't I add a Wi-Fi network to my Fitbit watch?

If you have trouble adding a Wi-Fi network, complete the steps below. If you have a hidden network, skip to the next section.

Step 1

  1. Restart your watch. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  2. Go back to the Google Health app and try again to add a Wi-Fi network.
  3. If you see other networks appear in the list of available networks, but not your preferred network, move your watch closer to your router.

If you still can't connect your watch to Wi-Fi, continue to step 2.

Step 2

Remove your watch from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone (known as "unpairing").

  1. On your phone, go to Settings Connected devices.
  2. Under "Other devices," tap your Fitbit device and then Forget.
  3. Go back to the Google Health app and try again to add a Wi-Fi network.

Note that you must set up notifications again after unpairing your watch from your phone. For instructions, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
