The Google Health Coach is a Google Health Premium feature, built with Gemini that helps you reach your health and wellness goals. This tool in the Google Health app supports you in building healthy habits for fitness, nutrition, sleep, and mindfulness.
Your Google Health Coach provides informational guidance, not medical advice. Consult a healthcare provider before making any health plan changes.

Do not use your coach for a serious disease or condition. Your coach is AI and can make mistakes. Some content may not be suitable for everyone.
How to use the personal health coach in the Google Health app
Before you begin
The Google Health Coach requires a Google Health Premium subscription available in the Google Health app .
Important: Google Health Coach and our Premium coaching features are currently available only to users who have a Fitbit or Pixel Watch device and are over the age of 18. These features are available in the following countries:
You can access Google Health Premium if you’re at least 18 and live in:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.
You can view, remove access to, or delete data you’ve shared with Google Health Coach at any time. To learn more about data usage and privacy, go to Manage your Google Health Coach data & personalization.
Get started with Google Health Coach
The Google Health Coach starts with a conversation about your goals, your challenges, and where you are with your health journey.
- If you’ve provided consent to turn on the Google Health Coach in the app, you will be able to chat with the coach to set up your goals and get personalized plans.
- Tap Chat with Coach.
- Discuss your goals, where you are starting from, and any barriers or challenges you may have.
- This information will be used by the coach to provide you a personalized plan towards your goals and also to help coach you better.
- The information you provide is stored in the conversation transcripts found under Ask Coach
History.

- If you choose to not chat with the coach during setup, you can always chat with the coach later to tell it your goals and get personalized plans. To do so, tap Ask Coach
and say something like “Help me set up a goal” or “Set up a new plan towards my goals”.
Tip: You can change or modify your suggested workout plan by tapping Ask Coach. You can also tell your coach about the changes you want to make or ask for its help to make changes.
Start a conversation with your coach.
Tap Ask Coach at any time to start a conversation with your coach. You can:
- Ask about your data
- Share changes in your routine
- Update your fitness plan
- Ask a question
- Log a meal, workout, or more with text, a photo, or a file
You can log your health and fitness data, such as activity, weight, and nutrition, either by manually entering the information directly into the relevant areas of the app or by having a conversation with your coach.
To log data, choose an option:
- On the Today tab, tap Log below the focus metrics.
- On the Fitness tab, tap Log activity for workout and movement tracking.
- On the Health tab, tap Add
from the focus areas such as Sleep, Metabolic, Nutrition, Cycle, Fitness and Temperature.
To log data for metrics like Weight or Sleep, go to the specific metric screen and tap .
Share images and PDFs with your coach
Important: The coach can’t analyze diagnostic medical images or evaluate photos of physical symptoms to provide clinical assessments.
You can share images and PDFs in coaching conversations to save time. To get started, you can upload the following:
- Meal and workout logs: Share photos to log your data quickly.
- Medical records: Add records to your coaching conversations and get insights
- Real-time support: Share a menu for healthy options, a training plan for your schedule, or equipment photos to ask about safety.
Log conversationally
You can create or update logs by telling the coach what you want to track.
Tap Ask Coach to start a new conversation with the coach.
To log data through conversation:
- Type or speak what you want to log. For example, “Log that I ate two scrambled eggs for breakfast.”
Tip: You can also update an existing log. For example, “Update yesterday’s run from 5.3 miles to 4.7 miles.” - Tap the submit arrow above the keyboard.
To log data with files:
- To make logging faster, include images or PDFs. For example, “Log my breakfast” with an image of your breakfast.
- From the coach conversation, you can tap Add
to take a photo, select gallery images, or browse files.
- Use images to help log your data. You can share photos to track activities, sleep, food, weight, body fat, glucose, or hydration.
- From the coach conversation, you can tap Add
- The coach may ask follow-up questions to gather required information and track your weekly targets. If this happens, provide the answers in the conversation.
- Once the coach has the information it needs, it will confirm the action and summarize the log entry. Tap the log entry to check the full log details. To delete a log, tap the trash can at the top right of your log details screen.
Your coach can handle a wide range of general wellness questions. To help you get started or keep the conversation going, it also provides suggestions. You can ask about:
- Analysis of and insights into your personal health data
- Fitness stats
- “Tell me about my weekly steps.”
- “Is my fitness improving?”
- Health stats
- “What’s my resting heart rate trend in the past year?”
- Sleep patterns
- “How has my sleep been in the last month?”
- Fitness stats
- Coaching toward specific health or fitness goals
- “What can I do to increase my Cardio Load when working out?”
- “Replace today's upper-body workout with a 4-mile run.”
- Create custom workouts
- Chat to coach, or Tap the Create Workout button to open a conversation with Ask Health. Simply describe the session you want, such as "Make me a 20-minute Pilates session," and your coach will generate a structured routine you can immediately play or save.
Receive personalized insights from Google Health Coach
Google Health Coach gives you suggestions based on your progress and data. These include:
- Workout routines: Recommended workout routines or physical activity guidance.
- Mindfulness: Mindfulness exercises or stress-reduction techniques.
- Meal plans: Personalized meal plans or dietary suggestions.
Start a conversation with your coach from anywhere in the app by tapping Ask Coach . Learn more about things you can ask the Google Health Coach.
Set & track health goals
The Google Health Coach can help you set realistic health goals. Recommendations adapt and evolve as your needs and habits change over time.
Check your progress
Get a summary of your key health metrics in the dashboards and reports. The Google Health Coach helps you understand your data so you can:
- Identify trends: Discover patterns in your activity, sleep, and heart rate.
- Find focus areas: Locate where you are doing well or need more work.
- Track your journey: Get pictures of your progress toward your goals.
Receive messages from your coach
You will receive personalized messages that adapt to you throughout the day.
Examples of messages you may receive:
- Start your day right with a morning message about how well you slept and how physically ready you are for the day ahead.
- After a workout, you’ll get a breakdown of your performance and tips for how to improve.
- In the evening you'll receive a recap of your day, including info about how your body responded to your activities and progress towards your fitness plan (if you have one).
Chat with the coach to stay on track with a personalized plan
After you have created a plan with the Google Health Coach, you can find your plan for the week, which includes your weekly targets and an associated set of recommended workouts on the Fitness tab .
Follow your workouts and workout plan from your coach
Coach guidance: Before you start a workout, the coach provides a personalized explanation with the routine organized into custom segments like warm up, cool down, core, upper body, and more.
Interactive execution: As you complete a workout, check off your exercises one by one and log your reps and weights directly in the app.
View options: Workouts default to a full-screen interactive view. You can minimize this player to get the full workout as a list and check off individual exercises as you go.
Workout feedback: As you finish, rate your workout to indicate session difficulty. This feedback helps your coach provide more personalized recommendations in the future.
Save workouts: You can save your favorite workouts from the coach by selecting the bookmark icon at the top of the workout overview. You can then access these workouts in “Saved workouts”.
Merge a completed workout started on a device & mobile
If you tracked a workout on your watch without starting the guided phone experience, you can still merge those recorded metrics with your coach's planned session afterward. This allows you to see your actual performance data and the intended workout structure in a single, unified view.
- In the Fitness tab, tap the recommended workout you completed.
- On the workout overview page, tap I have done this workout.
- Select the recorded session from your activity history to link it.
You can adjust your plan, targets, and workouts at any time by talking to the coach directly or selecting the “Adjust” buttons.
- Make changes
For a flexible experience, you can talk to the coach directly to request changes in your own words. You can also tap Make changes on the Fitness tab. Talking to the coach is best for adjusting to real-life situations, such as:
- “I’m traveling this week, can we adjust my plan accordingly?”
- "The treadmill is busy today"
- "I've injured my foot"
- "Make this workout longer" or "make it easier"
- Adjust a specific workout
To change one workout recommended by the coach, talk to your coach about the change. You can also tap Adjust on the workout overview screen.
You can also manually edit your workouts:
- Movement details: Change the reps, sets, weights, or duration.
- Exercise list: Add, reorder, or delete individual exercises.
Important: Do not rely on the coach to determine the safety of an exercise if you're in pain. Seek professional advice as needed.
Troubleshoot a missing workout plan
If you successfully set up the personal health coach but don’t see your weekly workout plan:
- In the Google Health app
, tap your profile picture.
- Tap Google Health settings

- Scroll to the bottom and tap Regenerate weekly plan.
- Wait up to 10 minutes for your workout plan to show up on the fitness tab.
For Public Previews users looking for their previously available scheduled weekly workouts
For Public Preview users only: Previous scheduled plans are being retired. You can still download or delete your completed plans.

If you want to stop your current fitness plan and stop receiving tailored workout recommendations, you can leave the plan at any time:
- In the Google Health app
, tap the Fitness tab

- Tap on your active plan to open the plan details screen.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Leave plan to terminate your active coaching plan.
