Fix speaker or display setup issues
Setup freezes or can't finish
Restart your speaker or display
- Unplug your device.
- Wait for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Start the setup process again.
Speaker or display can’t connect to Wi-Fi
When you set up your speaker or display, make sure that:
- The mobile device used for setup is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want to connect your speaker or display to.
- Your Wi-Fi password is correct.
- Your mobile device stays within 5 to 20 feet of your speaker or display throughout the setup process. For best results, have your setup device as close as possible to your speaker or display.
If you still experience issues, try to set up your speaker or display again with another setup device in your home.

Wi-Fi network isn’t listed during setup
When you set up your speaker or display, make sure that:
- The mobile device used for setup is able to connect directly to the same network from your current location.
- You're within 15 to 20 feet of your Wi-Fi router.
- You typically have a strong Wi-Fi connection in the location you're trying to set up the speaker or display.
- If you want to set up your speaker or display on a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection, your mobile device supports 5 GHz.

Speaker or display doesn't appear in the Google Home app
Restart your speaker or display
- Unplug your device.
- Wait for 10 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in.
Force close and then reopen the Google Home app

- For iOS: Go to support.apple.com.
