Important change for 2026–2027: Azure is introducing a 128 KiB minimum billable object size for the Cool, Cold, and Archive tiers. Starting July 1, 2026 for new storage accounts (and July 1, 2027 for all accounts), any object smaller than 128 KiB in these tiers will be billed as if it were 128 KiB. That means a workload storing one million 4 KB log files in Cool storage would be billed for 128 GB instead of 4 GB.
