Carl Jung Warned: There Are 7 Things That Are Bad For Your Mental Health
Carl Jung doesn’t need an introduction anymore. So I’m going to jump straight in.
Here are seven things I’ve handpicked from his extensive work that are bad for our mental health.
1. Ignoring the gap between what you say and what you do
“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.” — Carl Jung
Bridging the gap between who we are right now and who we want to become is the cause of a lot of internal conflict. It’s caused me to suffer from anxiety in the past and create a judging and self-loathing voice in my head.
Once I started doing things that stopped me from being anxious — meditation, breathwork, cold water swims, surrounding myself with kinder people — instead of merely saying I didn’t want to be anxious without doing anything about it, things began to shift.
I don’t want to be anxious anymore was a lofty goal.
I want to meditate for twenty minutes a day was far more tangible.
