Frequently Asked Questions
Which registries are covered? The search spans Canadian federal corporations and the provincial and territorial business registries, so one search returns matching companies from across the country. Every record includes the company name and any alternate names, registry and business numbers (plus the alternate registry-number format), entity type and type code, status, incorporation date, jurisdiction and registered office city and province — and, for federal corporations, a direct link to the official public registry profile.
What is the difference between the registry number and the business number? The registry number identifies the company in its home jurisdiction, while the business number (BN) is the CRA number used for tax and program accounts. Both are included when available.
Can I get only active companies? Yes. Set the status filter to active to keep only companies currently in good standing, or inactive for dissolved and struck companies.
Can I limit results to one province? Yes. Use the jurisdiction code (for example ON, BC, QC or CC for federal) to keep only companies from that registry.
