I Learned Python to Build AI Agents. Was It Worth It? (Includes My Python Notes)
I wanted to build AI agents. Now they can write Python for me. Here’s why I’d still learn it, and what I’d recommend to beginners.
Why learn Python from scratch when I can use a coding agent right in my VS Code?
Because having AI write your code is one thing, knowing whether it’s well-designed and follows the right business rules is another.
I use Python beyond software development, and that’s given me a different perspective on what learning it is actually worth. Let’s talk about becoming the programmer who doesn’t just tell AI, “I trust you bro, you decide whatever you want! ( and then push it to GitHub directly.)”

I started learning Python because I wanted to build AI agents. I was coming from JavaScript, and the transition felt fairly smooth. Python was easy to read, and there were plenty of tutorials and an active developer community to learn from. A few years later, I still use it in much of my work.
But now that coding agents can write so much of the code for us, is learning Python still worth the time?
