Livestock products

Hot Chicks' livestock mobs can be farmed, and selectively bred for better drops and products.

While it is an initial investment for the player, keeping and breeding domestic animals can be advantageous. Graded drops such as meat and hides provide as much meat or leather as vanilla animals at level 1 (fair), increasingly significantly from there.

Animals can produce meat for food, hides for leather and fur, as well as eggs and milk for a consistent form of food without needing to slaughter them. All animals also drop gelatin, which can be used to craft glue.

Meat

Meat is a graded drop from livestock.

If killed, animals drop one meat item. However, this drop (either called a carcass or primal) can be crafted into several smaller items depending on its grade. Smaller cuts of meat are equivalent to the vanilla meat item, in both hunger points and crafting.

Carcass or primal items dropped always correspond to an animal's carcass quality stat. A carcass quality 0 animal will always drop poor meat, a carcass quality 4 animal will always drop prime, and so on.

Meat drops are split into five grades: poor, fair, good, choice and prime. There is a clear visual difference between meat grades: the better quality a carcass, the richer the color and more marbled fat is visible. Poor-quality carcasses are clearly pale and almost look rancid.

Beef

Beef primals

Beef primals are dropped by cows.

Beef primals can be crafted into beef steaks, which are Hot Chicks' equivalent of raw steak. Beef steaks can be cooked and eaten for 8 hunger points (4) shanks, with a high 0.8 saturation. They can also be used in cooked foods.

Beef primals can be crafted into a set number of steaks per grade. The grade of primal dropped corresponds directly to a cow's carcass quality stat.

  • Poor beef primals will disintegrate into two rotten flesh.
  • Fair beef primals will craft into two beef steaks.
  • Good beef primals will craft into four beef steaks.
  • Choice beef primals will craft into six beef steaks.
  • Prime beef primals will craft into eight beef steaks.

Beef steak, as a substitute for vanilla beef, is used to cook several food items.

Chicken

Chicken carcasses

Chicken carcasses are dropped by chickens.

Chicken carcasses can be crafted into chicken quarters, which are Hot Chicks' equivalent of raw chicken. Chicken quarters can be cooked and eaten for 6 hunger points (3) shanks, with an average 0.6 saturation. They can also be used in cooked foods.

Chicken carcass can be crafted into a set number of quarters per grade. The grade of carcass dropped corresponds directly to a chickens's carcass quality stat.

  • Poor chicken carcasses will disintegrate into two rotten flesh.
  • Fair chicken carcasses will craft into one chicken quarter.
  • Good chicken carcasses will craft into two chicken quarters.
  • Choice chicken carcasses will craft into three chicken quarters.
  • Prime chicken carcasses will craft into four chicken quarters.

Chicken quarters, as an equivalent to vanilla chicken, are used in cooking several foods.

Rabbit

Rabbit carcasses

Rabbit carcasses are dropped by rabbits.

Rabbit carcasses can be crafted into rabbit quarters, which are Hot Chicks' equivalent of raw rabbit. Rabbit quarters can be cooked and eaten for 5 hunger points (2.5) shanks, with an average 0.6 saturation. They can also be used in cooked foods.

Rabbit meat has the unique property of being a crafting equivalent to chicken meat, and a raw rabbit quarter can be swapped for a chicken quarter in any recipe. Since rabbit quarters provide less hunger shanks than chicken when eaten plain, it is advantageous to use them in cooking instead.

A rabbit carcass can be crafted into a set number of quarters per grade. The grade of carcass dropped corresponds directly to a rabbit's carcass quality stat.

  • Poor rabbit carcasses will disintegrate into two rotten flesh.
  • Fair rabbit carcasses will craft into one chicken quarter.
  • Good rabbit carcasses will craft into two chicken quarters.
  • Choice rabbit carcasses will craft into three chicken quarters.
  • Prime rabbit carcasses will craft into four chicken quarters.

As an equivalent to vanilla rabbit meat, rabbit quarters can be used in cooking several dishes.

Eggs

Chicken eggs

Eggs are a produce item created by some livestock.

Eggs are an efficient source of food, and are laid constantly by birds, even if they are not bred. Bird livestock with a high egg speed may lay more than one egg per every in-game day, as long as they are well-cared for. They are ubiquitous in crafting cooked foods.

Unlike vanilla eggs, Hot Chicks eggs cannot be hatched by throwing them. They are unviable the minute they are removed from a nest, and will lose their metadata and become stackable in the inventory. Players who would like to hatch eggs should leave them in the nest.

Chicken eggs come in five colors: white, brown, green, blue and chocolate. All colors of chicken egg are functionally identical in crafting, but are a fun novelty for players to collect. In custom multiplayer servers, server owners may also want to set higher sale values for more specialty colors.

  • White eggs are produced by leghorn, barred rock and silkie chickens.
  • Brown eggs are produced by Rhode Island red and orpington chickens.
  • Green eggs are produced by olive egger chickens. Currently, they are the only breed that can lay green eggs.
  • Blue eggs are produced by ameraucana chickens. Currently, they are the only breed that can lay blue eggs.
  • Chocolate eggs are produced by marans chickens. Chocolate colored eggs are exclusive to the marans breed.

All colors of chicken egg are used in cooking, with no functional difference between types. They cannot be eaten on their own, but are a widely used crafting ingredient.

Milk

Milk is a livestock product used to craft dairy items.

Dairy animals can be milked for a set number of milk buckets depending on their milk yield stat. A dairy animal must be bred before it can give milk, and after it "dries up," it must be bred again.

Buckets of milk must be crafted into milk bottles for cooking foods and making other dairy products.

Currently, cows are the only livestock animal that can be milked.

Other

Feathers

Feathers are dropped by bird livestock.

Chickens drop 0-2 feather items when killed.

Gelatin

Gelatin

Gelatin is an item dropped by most livestock animals.

All livestock animals have a 25% chance to drop 1-2 gelatin on death. Cows drop more than small livestock like chickens and rabbits.

Gelatin is used in crafting glue, as well as in some foods.
