Building or finding shelter before the first night is a lot more crucial than in vanilla. Finding a village or harvesting wood for a quick hut may be one of your first priorities.

Beds are locked behind the Bed Age, meaning that you will not have the ability to set your spawn point when starting your world. Because of this, you should aim to set up a shelter near where you spawn.

When starting a new world, collect any flowers you see, as they can be used to craft a good amount of Healthy Stew in the early game.

Use an Axe as your primary weapon. Axes take double durability when used as a weapon, allowing for it to break quickly so you can progress through a tool age faster.

Since crafting tools require more effort and can no longer be done conveniently on the fly, ensure you bring enough tools to mine your way out when caving. Alternatively, keep track of each way you enter/exit with torches or some other marker. Failing to do so means you can find yourself stuck and left to die in a cave.
