Sangeeta Kalsi is a designer who moonlights as a writer. OR, I guess, a writer who moonlights as a designer. Let’s just start over.
On Medium, Sangeeta is the Development Editor at Fourth Wave, an international feminist magazine amplifying the voices of women and marginalized communities worldwide.
She helps curate expert-led conversations through the “Women Want Change” livestream series and writes as well as assists collaborators in producing sharp, intersectional commentary on culture, media, and power. Born and raised in the Middle East as an Indian citizen, now based in Italy, Sangeeta brings a cross-cultural lens to her work, interrogating the overlaps between religion, identity, and systemic inequality.
With a background spanning academic research and writing, public relations, journalism, and design across four countries, she’s particularly interested in how narratives are shaped, and why.
She is currently working with her team towards expanding Fourth Wave into a global non-profit network of citizen journalists focused on rigorous, grassroots reporting.
Outside of work, she runs a small creative community for women in Florence, building a safe-space where they can express themselves artistically. She has a certification in mental health first aid (Credential ID N-° 001472, Lighthouse Arabia). She has used it to help others through their darkest times, that’s how she honors humanity.
“I create, I guide, I design, I help, and I write. This is how I make sense of the world.”
