Spring Summer 27 trends to get on

6 min readSep 16, 2026

As we’re rounding up the year and preparing for December and all the other not-so-subtle events happening towards the end of this year that are taking up space rent-free in our minds, collections are being developed and some are being released. As we move into fashion month and prepare for this new season, all the actual designers are already preparing for the next release.

And for that reason, we thought to help you out. So here are our predictions for Spring/Summer 2027 collections.

  1. Think Olivia Dean.

Dresses are going to get more glamorous and more fabulous.

With the rise of Olivia Dean in pop culture, and also the rise of colours and African fashion, we find ourselves hitting a certain turning point where we are going to be embracing colour, movement and fabulousness.

But this time, we’re going to use more glamorous fabrics. Think lace, sparkles, chiffon. Dresses are going to get more glamorous and more fabulous.

Especially with the rise of new money, with things like AI, you would find that there is now a flux of resources, and our garments have continued to show so. With the rise of brands like DyeLab, Kelenta, and African fashion as well, we see that we’re now gravitating more and more towards colour and texture for glamour.

Now, we are going to find a way to make it, in our minds, more sustainable to make, more sustainable to produce, and more sustainable to own for the long term. And therefore, clothes are going to get more glamorous with chiffons, lace, colours and sparkles.

Think Olivia Dean.

Think Olivia Dean in real life.

2. Richer Muted Colours.

We’re going to remain colourful, but now we’re doing sultry colours. Think coffee, gold, olive, plum, and all the stuff that I love.

As we see right now the millennials taking over social media with “big sister advice” and the rise of things like “interesting women,” we would find that we’re going to still gravitate towards colour and things like that, but in a muted, more mature form.

Think olive, plum, gold, coffee brown — super-rich colours, but remaining muted and restrained.

Think about what a 42-year-old would actually want to wear.

Some of our favourite inspirations for this period is the wonderful Joan Clayton from Girlfriends. She embodies the “interesting woman” arc and aesthetic, especially with her colourful wardrobe.

And even if you’re looking for a real-life reference, think Tracee Ellis Ross herself.

3. Layers.

Right now, because we’ve had such an influx of sculptural pieces, fashion labels would look for a way to make producing this “more sustainable.”

This would mean that, in order to create some levels of sculptural looks, we would now switch into layers to create dimension while also keeping individual pieces “repeatable.”

For instance, it would be a pair of flared pants, a cowl-neck blouse and a kimono, all in monochromatic brown shades, over a really cool sculptural brown jumpsuit.

And the reason is because the market is gravitating towards a space where people are thinking:

How can I wear this more than once

How do I still keep the look interesting?

4. Less Sculptural Pieces, But Strong Fabric Choices.

We’re going to find less structural pieces, again because the rise of structural and sculptural pieces has done a wonderful job but has now become a little restrictive in terms of production.

So, we’re going to find pieces that still have interesting silhouettes, but are not excessively sculptural.

What would supplement that now would be very interesting fabrics and bold fabric choices.

Think velvet. Think chiffon. Think lace.

5. Gladiator Sandals.

Something that has been on the rise right now is, for instance, again taking a cue from pop culture, Dune and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which are coming out in the same year.

We’ve seen absolutely goddess-like pieces worn by Zendaya for the premiere of Dune and for most of her films.

With that, we have people like Zendaya, who are very easy to reference when it comes to style and what people will want to wear.

And then we also have the rise of the film in itself.

Because we’re looking for more sculptural pieces but simple fabric, think Greek goddessness.

And what says Greek goddessness more?

Since we’re doing Greek goddess, since we’re doing more interesting fabric, more interesting design, and more interesting fabric that has a sculptural look without it being so stiff and sculptural, what says that more than Greek mythology?

And what pairs best with Greek mythology?

Gladiators.

And I don’t just mean the hunky kind. Wink, wink.

You would see interesting heels and gladiator sandals trend a lot now.

6. Movement.

Again, with all of your living-a-glamorous-everyday-life energy, think fringes, tassels, movement and romanticism.

We’re preaching — oh my gosh, the texture of that.

Most of the looks of the next season are going to look like I didn’t try.

Think that Kourtney Kardashian coat. It looks like such an effortless look, but it was actually so much effort.

So, beautiful fabrics.

We’re all going to be done up. We’re all going to be dressed up. We’re all going to be glamorous.

But dressed-up glamorous, while also finding ways to be able to move and to feel dressed up and glamorous for everyday life.

Think maxi skirts, movement, beautiful textures and pieces that allow you to live in the clothes.

The main thing to look out for is…

Commercial Glamour Wearability

We’re still dressing up. We’re still having fun. We’re still embracing colour, glamour, texture, movement and beautiful fabrics, but we’re doing it in a way that makes sense for real life. The SS27 customer wants clothes that feel special without feeling restrictive — pieces that can be layered, styled differently, worn repeatedly and lived in. Think muted rich colours, flowing fabrics, sculptural details softened through drape and layering, fringes and tassels that bring movement, and statement pieces that can still work beyond the first wear. The opportunity for brands this season is to create fashion that feels exciting and elevated while remaining wearable, versatile and commercially relevant.
