The famous Indian saint, Ramana Maharshi, was not known for performing miracles, but on one particular occasion, he gave a rare and unusual blessing to an English businessman that payed him a visit.
The Englishman owned a very successful international enterprise, but felt unfulfilled in life and planned to spend a month with Maharshi, hoping the mystic saint would teach him how to attain the happiness he was missing.
On arrival, he was warmly greeted and granted audience with Maharshi, but the saint was not what he expected.
Ramana Maharshi wasn’t known for deep philosophical intellectualism. Most of his teaching came from sitting in complete silence. He rarely spoke.
This became quite apparent to the Englishman when Maharshi just sat there for twenty minutes and hardly said anything.
Frustrated, the man uttered, “I’ve seen all I care to see. I’m going back to England. There is nothing here for me.”
“Sir, before you leave,” said Maharshi, “would you do me one favour first?”
