You Bring Us Shame, Morons!
You’re not free, and you are in chains, even if you think that making money illegally by doing insane activities, you are a prisoner of your illegal deeds.
The city sleeps, but shadows creep,
A different world where promises sleep.
No work, no hope, a bitter sting,
And anger rises, words take wing.
Some say it’s choice, a path you tread,
That poverty’s a bed you’ve made.
That easy money, dark and fast,
Has led you down a road that can’t last.
They point their fingers, sharp and cold,
At stories whispered, often told.
Of drugs and gangs, a life of crime,
A wasted life, a wasted time.
They see the faces, Black and Brown,
From every corner of the town.
Hispanic, Asian, Roma too,
A Middle Eastern, grieving crew.
“You bring us shame,” the voices cry,
“In every city, ‘neath the sky.
Marseille, Johannesburg, and more,
You stain our names on every shore.”
