“My marriage is going well, but I just can’t seem to make any money.”
Throughout our relationship, my husband has been the breadwinner. I’ve been a stay-at-home wife. Even back when we were dating, he was the one spending money on me.
I tried starting my own business once — it didn’t work out. I’ve also attempted going back to work seven or eight times, but each time, I’d quit within a month. I even saw a therapist, but I couldn’t get past whatever was holding me back, so I stayed home.
My husband has now paid off the car loan, and we only have about $60,000 left on the mortgage. His plan is to pay it off within the next decade or so. He told me he’ll handle it alone — that I can stay home and focus on having and raising children.
We’re not exactly struggling, though his dad helps out a little. Not too much, though — his dad remarried, and his stepmom is polite but keeps her distance. His grandparents help a bit, but again…
