Guilt is the antithesis to what Jesus taught and a product of the Roman Empire. Guilt requires judgment, Jesus taught forgiveness. We don't really need obscure documents to know this. However you are correct in saying that these documents were sought after for destruction.

This position seems to conflict with the concept of original sin. Pervasive guilt is an outcome of sin. It might jot be what jesus taught, but it sure it what many sects of christianity teach.
