The Tears Behind the Grades
What If the Children We Are Pushing to Succeed Are Silently Falling Apart?
A child running home with a report card, a little nervous but still smiling. He has scored 85 out of 100. He worked hard, stayed awake at night, and gave his best. But instead of hearing, "I'm proud of you," he hears, "Where did the other 15 marks go?"
And just like that, his smile disappears.
What seems like a simple question to an adult can become a painful memory for a child.
Slowly, children begin to believe that their value depends on the numbers written on a piece of paper. Their efforts become invisible, their achievements feel incomplete, and their happiness begins to depend on someone else's approval.
But the pressure doesn't end with marks.
"Look at your cousin. She always comes first."
"Why can't you be more like your brother?"
These sentences may sound ordinary, but they can leave extraordinary wounds.
Every child has different abilities, different dreams, and a different journey.
Yet we continue to compare them as if they were all meant to follow the same path. A child who once loved drawing may abandon art to focus on grades…
